Imagine That!!

Guess where this is?? Two story sidewalks the only ones in the United States. Give Up??? Morristown Tn. yep that is where I was this week. Had to go downtown to see this myself. It is also where Davy Crockett lived. Man and it takes about 4 hours to get there. What a long haul. Glad to be back in God's country. Trying to get along without my cat and the welcomes that he provided. It's like losing a part of the family. But, am coping. Waiting on the snow that they are calling for Saturday, yeeeeha!!!!! We'll see if they hit it or not. Could be very interesting. Next week am in NC, yeah! Still a 2 1/2 hour drive but it's low country. Enjoy the picture and I will try to get back to ya next week.

My cat !!

This is dedicated to my precious pet, BooBooBoy! He passed today and I will miss him dearly. I do not know why or how! All I knew is that he went quickly. Tuesday evening we were playing and snuggling then Wednesday afternoon he became ill and it was down hill from there. It seems like the things that I care so much about leave and I will have to fill another hole. He is in a better place and I told him that we will meet again. I think that I will wait till Spring to start looking for another Manix. He knew that I loved him and looked forward to him meeting me when I returned from my trips.
Well on with life and I have cried myself out. So, now am good!
Good Bye Booger, you were a great cat and I will miss you very much!

What's This?

Do you know what this is?? It's a National Monumate for a President. Yep, this is where I was on November 17,2009. Which President? Andrew Johnson, the 17th he took over after Lincon died. He lived in Greeneville, TN. Very interesting tour and facts about this man, he was wrapped in an American flag with the Constituation under his head when he was buried. I enjoy the walking tour and exploring his home. His wife and youngest son are still in the house. You could feel the presents if you open your mind and senses. They were sick and left a presents that kind of took your breathe away. Anyway, I had to leave their rooms the air was thick. I think that is what made me feel weak and caused a viris. Trying to feel better and get over the experience.
Hope that you enjoy the picture and the story of my adventure.

Oh, the places I go!!

Guess where I was this week? This is a marble courthouse, the marble came from Marble, NC. Give up? Murphy, NC yep I sent 4 days in a small town and it was interesting and boring at the same time. I also went to the Cherokee Indian Musuem next door and checked the rolls. Umm, interesting! Found out that the Nations name is there but we just have to get the Family Bible and follow thru to be put there permenant. I have been putting that off for a while, you know am strating to see things thru, I think that it is an age thing. Anyway this week I will be going to Greeneville, TN for 3, maybe 4 days then I get the week of Thanksgiving off. Yes, rest at last, mmm, maybe!! I am cooking this year so that is going to leave alot of leftovers and turkey salad, LOL !!!! Will close for now, glad to have the work.

Work in the Carolina's

HI, this is the Vietmanse people that I was working with and for last week. They were a great group of people. They even fed us supper on Tuesday night. Dang, I have never had a filet migon as big as that or as delicious. Everyday they supplied lunch and drinks and were very happy for us to be setting up there store. I got tickled when the Mexican's came in to apply for a job and Ben would tell them, "I do not speak Spainish, only American. No, English no job!" I wish that more people were like that it pleased me to see a stand up person. Besides he says that he was raised here and respects the American's. What a great person. Anyway I spent 4 days in Charlotte, NC working and I did go to see my sister who lives in Charlotte. It was a good trip.
Things are picking up for me right now so sometimes it is hard to find the time to let you know how things are going, but I will try to keep in touch as much as possible.
Till next time, maybe tomorrow, have a great day.

Me, travel!!!

Wow, what a week and a half. Last week I was in Monroe, NC for 3 days and I thought that I had went out of country with the exception of 74 it's a race track! LOL!!! There were a lot of Mexican's and Indian's in this med size town. Almost all the restaurant's were Mexican Food expect for the usual fast foods and a few up scale restaurants. I couldn't wait to get back to the mountain.
Then I went to Asheville, NC boy was I fooled. Another piece of work in this state. There were Jamaicans and hippies everywhere. I was working at the Earth Fare and that was a hoot. In the late morning to early afternoon there was a Jamaican there beating a drum and singing really loud. In the afternoon in came these guys raggedly dressed with guitars and a fiddle and picked. They brought there collection bag for tips, no doubt I did not tip. Oh, and inside you could get a massage the first 5 minutes were free. Man the mountains are changing and not for the good.
Anyway am back on the mountain, with a work order for Charlotte, NC next week. I know pit city but it's a job. Besides I see some really strange things in these cities and how people are trying to make a way thru life. Oh, about forgot I saw too many dreadlocks! Yech!!!
That's it for now will try to write again soon.

Dreary Day

Thought that I would share a picture of my catus in bloom this summer, since today is rainy. Weather is about to change to cooler and I will miss the warm days and cool nights. Sure we'll have a few more days of warmth but nothing let about a month ago. The season's are what I like about this region. Winter is not my favorite!! Spring is my favorite! That is what I start looking forward to around March, all things come out new. Just have to get through WINTER!
Anyway, I worked this week in Concord (again) and it was very warm done there, but the work I was doing was COLD. Reminded me that winter is close. Oh, I did a freeze re-set at Bi-Lo's. Too Funny, a person that doesn't enjoy the cold has to do this!!
I will catch up on house work this week. Have a great week and try to be happy!

Friends

I was coming home this morning after going to Blowing Rock, and it accurred to me that friends are not like back in the old days. Sure, I have my special friends but new ones are hard to come by. It seems like the world is changing and not for the good. People are out for them selfs and don't care who they hurt in the process. I hope that my friends and my self do not come to this way of thinking. Sorry, am old school and think that if a friend tells me something that's between us not the whole neighborhood. If I make a mistake I will admit it and hope that my friend hugs me and assures me that all is fine. Am ranting, aren't I? Sorry, but right now I am feeling a little lonely and I have to get thru this on my own, I reckon. It happens every year around this time, the B-Day. So for now I will concentrate on my few friends and try to be happy for them and myself. Getting ready to head out this afternoon for work tomorrow.
Have a great day,
Love ya!!

Finally I have my rocker fixed!

This is my rocker! It was in bad shape before, we fixed it. The cat's used it as a scratching post so it looked real rough. I painted it and removed all the bad cane off the frame, then my neighbor cut the slats, and started the webing. I went over last nite and helped him finish the back. It turned out really nice and may last another 13 or 14 years, who knows. Anyway I wanted to share this with everyone.
Otherwise, on this side of the mountain we are enjoying cooler tempertures and nice evenings. I was awaken this morning by my big cat who crawled up in the bed and decided he likes the new mattresses.
We also put up new blinds this week over the big windows, they look great! Mom gave them to us and they are remote control, imagine that. It's pretty cool to see them go up and down at the touch of a button.
While that's all for now, Have a great week.

Life goes on!

Well, it's been a little over a week since I was here! I worked the graveyard shift last week for 2 days in Charlotte, NC. I hate the big city! But, I got a free motel room and got some much needed rest. This week I have a couple more days of work and that's it. Maybe I can start laying some stone in the cabin for the wood burned. That would be sweet!
My daughter bought another cycle this week end maybe this one will work out for her, I hope so.
She is an A student in school, yes! Next week she will be 35 and me ? next week also. Don't ask that's my little secret.
We all do crazy things to save money, but refilling ink in a cartridge is a riot. I tried this last week and ink is not easy to deal with. Anyway the fingers are back to normal and the fax machine is working again. LOL!!!!
That's it for now, Labor Day is just another day, nothing special planned. Neighbors are in till Wednesday then it will be quiet again. Have a great week! KC

Get away!

Posted by Picasa

Howdy!!!

It's been a while since I got on this thing and boy has things changed. I have cleaned the apartments again this year for the college students. That took a while due to up-grades that needed to be made. Then the re-set work started back up and I do enjoy this kind of work. I went to Virginia for a few days and will be going to Charlotte, NC next week for a couple of days. Hope that I get to work all winter!!! I am continuing to try to clean up the hill top, took 3 truck loads off already.
John has been helping so it's kinda like, do we need this, throw it away!
But, it has been an adventure.
I will close now and hope to be back soon!

Strange

Can't wait for the warm weather to come back and stay! Cabin fever is starting to set in and the joints are starting to rebel. And the daffadills are trying to bloom! This is going down in the books as a strange winter. Anyway! Getting ready for my daughter to come in for a visit real soon. Haven't seen her in 14 months so this is going to be cool! Just wanted to catch up and say "hi". Nothing else much to say!

Busy

Sorry that I haven't been on lately, but things to do when it's warm. Get the yard clean from recent winds and get rid of rubbish in the beds. I have cleaned my house no need to wait til Spring when I can do it now and yard work in the Spring. Work is trying to pick up and I have things on Craigs list to sell. I will be glad to see winter go, ready to work and get things done. Enough about this ole gal, hope everyone enjoyed the great weather this past week!
Nothing new going on in Blowing Rock, so I will say have a great week!
Bye!

Better weather on the Mountain!

Well, it was cold this morning, but it turned into a pretty nice afternoon. The wind was chilly but otherwise it was sunny, and tomorrow is suppose to be nicer. We shall see!!
Looking forward to Spring coming maybe it will be a little early this year. Keeping my fingers crossed!
My daughter may be in soon for a visit, that will be nice. Am sure glad that she is getting out of the Army but I think that it is the wrong time. Oh, well that's her decision!
Will return soon to let you know about all the Valentine dinner's coming up in Febuary.
Have a Great Day!

Rainy day!!!

Today has been damp and chilly, a good day for sleeping in or laying on the couch. Trying to stay awake with coffee, warms the insides at least. Just thought that I would go on to say "HI!" and hope all is well in your world.

Polar Plunge

While today was the day of the Polar Plunge at Blowing Rock, there was about 50 folks who jumped. I seen some heading to the warm, dry of the rec center. As I told one guy my pa may have raised some stupid kids but not any fools!!! hahahaha!
Anyway it was really busy today at the restaurant, I had a good work out! We had soldiers and families in from Fort Jackson, SC. It was a bonding retreat for couples, and I think that everyone was having fun.
It warmed up enough to change the oil in the truck and get a little outdoor work done. Hope Spring is just around the corner, love to see the flowers bloom! That is when everything is new and fresh, maybe that is what we need.
Will close for now, have a great day, hope to hear or see you soon.

BURRRR!!!!!

It's colllllddddd!!!!!! Am not us'ta this weather!! Woke up this morning to 1/2 degree, now it's 20 and I can't feel a difference. In case you don't know I leave my kitchen go out the back door across a porch into my living room where the computer is and my feet get COLD. Fun how you take little pleasures for granted until you have to rough it again. Well one thing is for sure, it's not a camper. hahahaha.
Next week is Winter Fest in Blowing Rock, NC, hope I get to see the Polar Bear Plunge. Looks amusing and down right crazy!
Try to stay warm and I will add some more later.
Bye, Karen

Saturday, January 10, 2009

I've been a little busy this week so this is the first time that I have gotten back to my blog! Tuesday was so beautiful that I walked down the hill with kittens in tow, to pick up the trash that blew in from last week. The thing about wind up here is it carries trash where you don't want it. I am trying a lot of new ideas to put in my blog, and trying to build some shelves over my computer for storage problems. It seems that a person can never have enough storage. I must be the best pack rat around, because I have so much STUFF. Another room for just STUFF would be nice!
Anyway, at the resort we are looking forward to Winter Fest 1-22-09 hope that I get to see the Polar Bear Plunge, crazy people!
Hope to get back soon to the blog! Have a great cold winter week coming up! KC

2009

Well it's the first day of 2009, and I sure hope that it is better then 2008. I reckon that a lot of people think that way. Well the good thing is this year at least I have a part time job, woo-hoo.
I am looking forward to spring and see all the plants start out new, but sigh, that's still 3 months away. We will probably get a lot of snow this winter and I can try out the ski's that I got this year, hope that I don't break a leg, hahahaha!!!! Besides I have also got 2 sled's to play with, might get pulled by the ATV with those. That sounds exciting!
Well, I just want to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!
