Onward

Glad that, Christmas is over. Some people are spoiled about the kids coming to there house on Christmas Eve, sorry a thing of the past. We grow and have our own families and friends. I try to get by all friends and most of the family in the month of December wish them merriment and good luck in the coming year and let them know that I care. I think that is all anyone should want besides it does not have to be dusted or polished.
Now for the year 2009!!
December 31st. New Year Eve Torchlight skiing parade and fireworks Appalachian Ski. Call for details and time 800-322-2373.

BURRR!!!!

It's Monday and man is it cold today!!! The wind was blowing so hard last night that it was hard to get to sleep. Besides the tin that we salvaged started blowing and that made a great racket. This is going on our cabin in the woods, it's starting to look like something out of the past.hehehe
Anyway the wind has died and the high temp for here was 23 whole degrees.
The football last nite was exciting except the over time and the Panthers losing home field advantage. That sucked!
Hope that they do good this year and at least make it to the Super Bowl.
Tomorrow I will try to have some exciting thing to do in the winter here, in meantime try to keep warm and I will see you later.

Saturday!

Well, I worked this morning, yeah! In at 7 am out at 11am isn't life grand! I did my sausage balls today and the Lemon Buttermilk Pound Cake tonight. Waiting on the cold to get here tomorrow and FOOTBALL. I will be eating leftovers tonight and chicken for Sunday dinner, that's a good Sunday meal.
I am fixing up some treats for the girls at the restaurant in the morning. They seem to like me and enjoy all the help that they receive. Maybe they will make me a server soon or at least a way to make more MONEY, after all that is what makes the world go round.
Well, I think that I will lay on the couch and catch a little TV before fixing supper!
Have a great day!

Christmas is on the Way !!!!

Well it's one week til Christmas and I am trying to get all the work done ahead of time. Friends will be dropping in and I want a clean house with goodies to munch on while they are here.
I have to go to town and get a few things to make the treats. First will be a treat that my husband likes a lot, Peanut Butter Fudge (recipe to follow), then some sausage balls, ham biscuits, and of course my Lemon Buttermilk Pound Cake.
Each day I will try to include one of my recipes so that the holiday will be sweet!!!!
And we can not forget the Potato Chip Candy a recipe that my mom gave me years ago.
Have a great day and remember to smile and don't let the turkey's get you down!

starting out

This is my first blog about living in the Appalachian Mountains of NC.
I live on a ridge about 14 miles from Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. Life can be tough at times and really try your patience. But you get through and keep smiling, no teeth and all.
In this blog I will try to humor you and give you some really cool recipes. Also I will try to keep you up to date on the activities going on in our area.
Hope to see you again soon,
